Studio Update

Rodney just sent me this image of our lobby after he put up this gorgeous 30 x 48" print to update our look. He is loving the classic feel it gives our lobby. What do you think?

In other news, we will be away for a portion of this month visiting family and doing our "Saskatchewan Family Portrait Tour"...allowing rural families near my home town the opportunity to do family portrait sessions in the beauty of where they live. If you are interested in a similar kind of session for your family, feel free to give Rodney a call. August to October will be fabulous times to photograph family outdoors. Rodney also just completed an incredibly beautiful session at Patricia Beach at sunset for one of our Eve clients. I hope he'll be able to post an image or two soon.

We have just started advertising with Winnipeg Women, a local magazine that we love. We have a couple of extra copies in the studio if you want to stop by and pick one up.

Hope you are having an excellent summer: soaking up the sun, getting active, getting into nature, being rejuvenated...even if it's just in your backyard. When we get back, we're planning lots of BBQ's with friends! (which reminds me...there's this great little shop on Academy Rd. called the Garden Room...you've gotta go there!)

Enjoy life! I've got some packing to do!

Top Awards

Rodney was just informed of his excellent showing in national competition this past week.

This image, "She's Smokin" won Best in Category for Experimental/Unclassified.

This image, "Winter Whispers" was awarded a merit.

This image, "Dreamscape" was given an award of excellence and won Best In Category for Fine Art.

Two of these images will become part of "The Loan Collection", a collection of images from competition that will be compiled onto a disc/into a book and distributed to all PPOC members as a sampling of the very best work in the country.

Congratulations, honey!

Pure beauty

There used to be a saying I heard while growing up, it was "Pure as the driven snow." While spending some time visiting family in Saskatchewan while celebrating Christmas I had the opportunity to stop our tan minivan and spend a few minutes capturing God's amazing creation while my wife and kids waited patiently in the van. What is there that speaks of purity like hoar frost on everything you can see? As I saw these images my mind went wild and I was just overcome with the knowledge that I am so small in this universe in which we live. I really am like the dust and yet God has graced me with the opportunity to see amazing art unfolding in the land in front of me. Wow.

I saw much more on our family adventure, you will hear and see more in the future I just thought this was worth a look, I hope you agree.

Saturday

A "Church" Wedding

Well winter is truly upon us and is tradition my last wedding of the year ends in a snowstorm with 6 or more inches of snow. This weekends wedding was the wedding of a truly special couple, Kyle and Tiffany. I first met Tiffany about five and a half years ago while I was photographing her dance school and she left an impression immediately as a person who had a great deal of spunk and personality, I loved it. I have watched in the last five years as Tiffany has developed into a fabulous dancer and an even better performer, I have photographed her performances for years but never imagined I would have the immense honour of capturing her wedding.

Then there is Kyle, he is an outstanding person and good looking to boot, when he and Tiffany walked into the room I felt as if I was about to photograph JFK and his beautiful wife Jackie. I feel as though elegant is not a good enough word to describe this amazing young couple, we had a lot of fun together and as discussed in our consultations funky was not the descriptor of their wedding, it was all pure class and classic.

Well they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, everyone who was witness to the events of this wedding will agree that they were beholding true beauty whether it was simply seeing the couple or seeing the caring way in which they treated everyone who was involved in their day it was beautiful.

Thanks Kyle and Tiffany, God Bless you and your marriage.

Tuesday

Ok, here I go again. This past week i had the oportunity to photograph the wedding day of an absolutly amazing couple. Mike, Lisa, their Wedding party and I all had an amazing time together. The day was beautiful, an outstanding fall day with outstanding fall colors and a beautiful group of people, what more could I ask for?? Lisa was not only a an exceptionally beautiful bride, she's one of those people that radiates beauty from within, all I can say is that it truely was an honour to share their day with them. Mike was also an amazing guy, his big weakness is of course his choice of sports teams, but all can be forgiven when the Riders win the Cup.
